Waddington International Air Show

Pending the release of information for the 2012 event, this information relates to 2011.

Join us in eastern England at an RAF base with a long and proud history. Before and after the air show we tour Derbyshire, home of the Peak District National Park.

RAF Waddington dates back to 1916 when it was a Royal Flying Corps training base. During WW2 it was part of Bomber Command. Today it is home to No. 34 Expeditionary Air Wing ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) squadron.

The theme for the 2011 AirShow is: Air Power - Past, Present and Future. There will be seven hours of flying which we can view from our reserved grandstand seats, and hundreds of static display aircraft to view.

There are sure to be some aircraft types and air arms taking part which you will not see very often in the US, if at all. The USAF Thunderbirds will be making their only UK appearance at the show.

Our visit to the Newark Air Museum on Sunday will also allow you to see some rare aircraft types.

The rest of our tour will be spent touring the Peak District National Park, including the incredible stately home and gardens of Chatsworth, and a trip undergound on a boat!

We will also see a location that is a piece of WW2 history that ties-in with RAF Waddington. Not to be missed.

DAY 1 - Thursday, June 28
Arrive Manchester airport (MAN). We will collect you from the airport and then drive to Ashbourne, for our first night. Free time in the afternoon, or head in to Ashbourne town with us, then we gather for dinner.

DAY 2 - Friday, June 29
Some of the sights of the Peak District National Park "White Peak". Dove Dale, Crich Tramway Museum, Matlock Bath. On to Newark for two nights.

DAY 3 - Saturday, June 30
Waddington International Air Show.

DAY 4 - Sunday, July 01
Newark Air Museum, Chesterfield, Chatsworth House, Peak District National Park, Buxton.

DAY 5 - Monday, July 02
Millers Dale, Tideswell, "The Dam Busters", Castleton (Caverns, Peveril Castle), Wynatts Pass, on to Manchester Airport for the night.

DAY 6 - Tuesday, July 03
Depart Manchester airport for home.
